Secret Squirrel

I’m always foraging around for secret information that ought to be in the public domain. I will post responses here from my access requests so you can see how well (or badly) the government is honouring its commitment to openness and transparency. You can find more detail about these, and other, requests in the Request Diary.

This is a public resource that should help to reveal those bodies that think they’re above answering the public. The more requests and responses I can collect here, the better, so please let me know if you’ve made any requests and the responses you received.

  1. Andrew Breslin Says:

Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK)tender contract award information
Please will you help uncover to whom this organisation (aka ‘Skills for Business’ and ‘Catalyst’,a division of the DIUS)awards contracts?
As part of a consortium, I have been involved in submitting tender bids for three LLUK marketing projects. The bids were unsuccessful and I accept that. However, having heard rumours that the tendering process was ‘a stitch up’ I want to find out the name(s) of the successful bidder(s)and I can’t.
Initially, I asked for this information as part of the obligatory feedback and the request was ignored. Subsequent requests have hit a bureaucratic stonewall; although I admit to using stealth in making them.
Not wanting to queer my pitch for other possible contracts I used a proxy - my sister who works for the Council of Europe. Such was the reaction from LLUK that she now feels her position may be compromised.
If LLUK has nothing to hide I can’t understand its lack of openess and transparency.
