Your Right To Know

I am writing to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

I would like the following data from the latest 12-month period (ending when this request is answered):
1. All Trading Standards inspection reports
2. All Environmental Health officers’ inspection reports

My preferred format to receive this information is by electronic database, and I can provide discs.

If it is not your policy to disclose this information I would argue a re-assessment. This information is strongly in the public interest and should therefore be released under the Freedom of Information Act and EIRs. There can be few types of information that are more obviously in the public interest than local-government produced inspection reports of restaurants and businesses frequented by the public.

I understand that under the act, I am entitled to a response within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
