FOIA REQUEST FOR NATIONAL ID CARD DATA

Dear Mr O’Brien

I would like to request the Gateway review and costings for the National ID card. In addition I would like a list of all those working on the ID card team and their status (eg full-time, part-time, on secondment). For all those employees on secondment, I would like the name of their sponsoring firm.

Some parts of this request may be easier to answer than others, and in such case I would ask that you release available data as soon as possible rather than hold up the entire request. So for example, if there is a delay releasing the names of employees, that will not affect the release of all firms sponsoring secondees.

I would also point your attention to the convention established some time ago by the Campaign for Freedom of Information on the release of secondee names and sponsoring companies. Cabinet Office guidance was re-issued stating that the previous policy of withholding these names “took insufficient account of the public interest test.”

My preferred format to receive this information is electronically, however if that is not convenient I can accept hard copies or inspect the records in person. If the decision is made to withhold some of this data using exemptions in Act, please inform me of that fact and cite the exemptions used.

I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this letter, and I look forward to your response within the statutory time limits. If you need any clarification then please contact me via email or phone. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Regards,

Heather Brooke
